Pre-Wedding Honeymoon {PART4: Saturday on a lake}

Our hosts offered to take us on a trip to a nearby lake on Saturday.  As the weather was unusually warm, we all decided that this would be the best way to really enjoy the day.  They knew of a lake that had a little row boat that we could borrow from the site of an abandoned (burned down) university cabin.

Doing our best to protect ourselves from the bright sun, the four of us rowed out to a little island.

 Although it looks tiny and too rocky to be terribly inviting, it was the perfect spot for us to stop for a swim.  The water was wonderful.  We took breaks in between dips to eat some melon and look at the beautiful surroundings.  Our hosts seemed dismayed to see one small group of people on the far shore ("it's so busy here today!") -- but in my eyes, this seemed like the most untouched and serene place on the planet...

Once we had swum our fill we rowed on to another larger island for lunch.  The hill here gave us a nice view of much of the lake and surrounding area.

This vantage point let us see some dark clouds rolling in, so we decided that we'd better cut lunch short and head back to the car.

Luckily the storm never arrived, so once we were back on the main shore we took some time to pick some blueberries...

We gathered enough to make a lovely blueberry cake when we got home, some blueberry smoothies in the morning, and I think there were still some left over...

The final treat of the outing came with an unlikely meeting on the way home: we spotted a moose and her baby!  Our hosts had just been telling us how rare it is too see a moose (citing the case of their friend who had been watching for one for more than a year with no success).  We truly enjoyed some amazing luck on this trip.

For some more pictures of this time, you can look at our host's blog -- don't be scared off by the German text (our Trondheim hosts were actually from Dresden).  There are some repeats of pictures, since we shared some -- but they have much better ones of the moose!

Too cool dear, just found this. The moose! And the beautiful lake. So strange that's what you were doing last summer and I didn't know it.
